Answers to everyone's favorites (and valid) hiring questions. Let's get it out of the way and instead focus on how I'll provide value to your organization.
I'd hope I wouldn't need to tell you (even more) about my professional background or qualifications. But in case you missed it, just scroll up a bit :). Anyway, here's a bit about myself as a person and professional:
I’ve been entrepreneurial since college, which leads me to be constantly innovating, learning and updating my skills in anything I do.
I’m a learner, I love reading books, watching videos, taking online courses. Having an intellectually stimulating work environment is high on my priority list.
I love working with data, strategizing, extracting insights and problem solving. I'll put my hands on anything that has to do with quantitative digital marketing.
I’ve worn many hats: from web development, social media management, content creation, paid digital campaigns, analytics… And others. I consider myself a generalist who thrives in fast-paced environments with constant challenges!
Ah yes, the deal-breaker question.
I'll answer this: whatever range you're offering, I'm okay with. If I wasn't, I wouldn't have applied. And I trust in your integrity as a company to compensate your employees fairly!
Furthermore, and most importantly, I'd sacrifice a few thousand dollars for being in a role that would allow me to grow and learn tons. I'm not kidding. I much rather sacrifice financially at the start, prove to you that I can excel at any task you give me, and get a raise later.
My number one priority is to keep learning.
I know this is a general portfolio, so I cannot give you a specific answer right now (but I'd be more than happy to do so over a call/meeting, wink wink). But here's something that's true regardless of who you are (as a company).
If you received my application with my Resume is because I've done my research, and found something unique about your organization that compelled me to put together an application.
I wouldn't waste your time or mine by applying to a job that doesn't excites me or motivates me to grow professionally. If you received this portfolio, is because I'm excited about what we can do together!
So I hope I get the opportunity to answer this question again over an interview :).
"Why don't I tell you what my greatest weaknesses are? I work too hard, I care too much, and sometimes, I get too invested in my job" — Michael G. Scott, The Office.
Yes, I love The Office. I'm sorry about the shameless plug here. But seriously though... I'd say these are my strengths:
Strategic thinking and analysis
Learning and adaptability
Communication and empathy
Problem-solving and innovation
Responsibility and ownership
As you can see from my list of skills, there are plenty of areas of growth still for me. The biggest one by far is programming, since I don't have as much experience with that specific skillset for web-development.
This turned out to be a positive, since it led me to find ways to develop my skills in web management without knowing how to code.
I'm currently taking an online course on a platform called Platzi to learn the basics and get a solid foundation 8 months from now.
Professionally, learning and growth. No questions about it. I love challenges and problem-solving. I love going out of my comfort zone to fill in my knowledge gaps. I'm genuinely curious about the world.
Personally, my family; and my physical, mental, and spiritual health.
I don't have the fattest resume or the decades of experience yet. And I'm not going to give you the 'hardest worker in the room' spiel. But I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that if we work together, you will not be disappointed.
Yes, I work hard. But I work smarter. I know how to get things done. I know how to make things happen, even if it means pulling an all-nighter learning a new tool from scratch. I'm committed and passionate.
I might need sometime to adapt if I'm doing something for the first time, but once I figure it out, it's with me forever.
So, short answer: You shouldn't if I'm really missing a crucial skill/experience for the role. But if it can be coached, rest assured, I will master it faster than most people.
Yes. Just one: How can you not email me or give me a call to chat further after reading all of these Q&As, when you're clearly considering it? Let's work together! I'd love to hear from you.
